Before you say to yourself, "I don’t use amalgam, so I don’t need this," ask yourself these questions: Do you drill out old amalgam fillings? Do you extract teeth with amalgam fillings? Do you place an occasional (or more than occasional) amalgam filling?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you are like virtually every general dentist, and you do need an amalgam waste disposal kit. According to the EPA, amalgam contains enough mercury to be deemed a hazardous waste, and it needs to be disposed of properly. Throwing amalgam-contaminated waste in with the bio-hazard waste is not proper disposal. It needs to be handled separately.
Think of our AmalGon as an amalgam trash can, suitable for anything that is contaminated by amalgam.AmalGon is ideal for:
- Chair-side traps containing amalgam sludge
- Extracted teeth with an amalgam filling
- Capsules with amalgam residue
- Vacuum pump filters
- Anything and everything amalgam
